FAQ: DJ Graffiti's Frequently Asked Questions
Three things...
- I'm the only DJ (that I know of) accomplished enough in mainstream entertainment to share stages with Snoop Dogg, Beyoncé and Eminem, who willingly decides to focus mainly on business events. (The two points below explain why...)
- I'm more of a stylist than an artist. I'm not belittling my creative abilities, or personal artistry. It's just how I'm built...
I'm driven less by a personal artistic vision and more by creating joyful, inspiring and unforgettable experiences.
You hire a stylist because you love their taste and skillset. Their goal isn't molding you into their ideals, it's to use their talents to do work they feel proud of, that makes you shine and feel your best.
- I ran a marketing and branding agency for 14 years. I only stepped away because I decided to be The Keynote DJ™️ full time.
I have business and law school degrees. My combined business and entertainment backgrounds are why I help my clients not only create engaging experiences, but also drive strategic outcomes.
I approach every event with a blank slate. It's not about "This is the type of music I play." I create soundtracks that compliment your event, your audience and your goals.
I always play clean edited music at corporate events unless requested otherwise.
The total cost of booking DJ Graffiti generally includes DJ Fee, Equipment Rental, Travel & Hospitality expenses & occasionally AV.
Sometimes I'm hired to provide a turn key setup, or occasionally my clients provide some of those items and I provide othes.
When it comes to pricing, I get it... you're concerned that if you say what your total budget is, I'll take all of it. :)
Let me put your mind at ease. My booking fees are fixed. Most events are booked at a day rate. I hate the feeling of nickel and diming clients, so I charge 1 inclusive price and from there my goal is doing whatever it takes to help you maximize your vision.
If your budget isn't in the multiple thousands, I'm probably not a good fit, but otherwise I always say don't let concerns about budget stop us from collaborating!
Since 1997, I've performed at just about every type of event you can think of.
Today, as DJ Graffiti aka The Keynote DJ™️, I specialize in both in-person and online Corporate Events.
I still occasionally perform at nightclubs and concerts because I can't completely shake that bug. 😎
Frequent event types include Conferences, Tradeshows, Networking Mixers, Award Shows, Parties, Galas and Celebrations.
I don't play weddings at this time, but if you reach out, I'll have an amazing referral for you.
We can source our own equipment, or provide a detailed rider to have equipment sourced by you or your AV team.
Let's discuss! We saved one client $13000 in costs by sourcing our own AV.
DJ Graffiti usually includes a set-up time buffer of 1.5 hours. It generally takes about 30 minutes to set-up in most instances, but this leaves time to troubleshoot any technical hiccups or unforseen setup concerns.
It's best to have a quick conversation about your exact set-up, but here is some general information.
DJ Graffiti generally requires floor space of 8 feet by 6 feet, and a DJ booth or linen covered table that is 2.5 to 3.5 feet high.
With staging, assume an 8 foot square stage or greater.
Smaller spaces can be accomodated with a more discreet equipment rig.
Beware if a DJ tells you they own the licenses and you're covered! Just because you legally purchase songs, or a streaming subscription does not give you legal rights to perform that music publicly.
We regularly work with the Performing Rights Organizations ASCAP, BMI & SESAC who provide the licenses required to play popular music at events.
We will help you make sure you have everything you need to legally play everyone's favorites!
DJ Graffiti LLC carries liability and various other types of insurance to protect our team, our clients and our property in case of accidents or damages during the event. When requested, we can provide you or your venue with an additional insured certificate.
In over 30 years I've never had to cancel an event was booked for. Fingers crossed I never will! 🤞🏾
That said, if I was forced to cancel, I'm a partner in an entertainment sourcing agency. We can either source another top tier entertainer, or return any amount paid for work that hasn't yet been completed.
If you have to cancel, I'd be happy to apply your initial payment to a future mutually agreed upon booking date.
Today's equipment is less power hungry than the gear of the past. If we're speaking speifically my DJ gear, I can run everything off 1 20 amp power outlet.
For both DJ gear and AV rental for up to 250 people (in Michigan), I prefer two separate power circuits, but have successfully run off one circuit.
Beyond 250 people, let's talk so we can provide a specific power estimate and AV quote.
This is negotiated on a per event basis.
For Michigan based events, I generally prefer to provide my own DJ backline.
Depending on the size of the event my team can also provide the AV and speakers for events of up to 300 people.
Beyond events of 300, or for larger spaces or out of town events we have a networking of reputable AV vendors in most major regions.
Let's discuss your specific needs, and we'll find the solution that gets you the greatest impact at the lowest cost.
